Day 4: Trains and more tunnels in Switzerland

Oh! My! What a day! We started off super early because mom had a meeting in Zug. We got that done but had a beautiful sunrise drive on the way!

Falling water.
This lake had been hiding behind trees, but I finally won!
See that swoop of ice on the left hand side of this mountain? That’s mom’s first real glacier. I may have teared up! My first good glacier in eight years.
We’ll never get over mountains.
We then got in line for a thing we didn’t know existed until this trip, a train ferry!
Boarding the “ferry”. Do not add water.
We’re on a train. In a car. In the Swiss Alps. Here’s a waterfall.
We never know what to expect when exiting a tunnel.
Right off the train, another glacier. I swoon. 😍
After we leave the train ferry, we head on down the road more until we take another train and see glacial melt.
We land in Zermatt. Home of the Matterhorn. The real one. Not the one at Disneyland with a yeti.
We head up more of this tiny Alpine town in hopes of a glimpse of the Matterhorn.
But took a break and finally stopped at a traditional Swiss restaurant. Had Raclette on a recommendation!
And of course had the fondue! 🫕
And took some time to enjoy a dessert!
But the Matterhorn hid in the clouds. Must be very shy.
We took the train ferry back through the mountains.
Through more stunning landscapes.
We got back to our 150 year old house that we swear is haunted but staff is skeptical. But I captured this image on the way back from the bathroom. Bis schpöter! 🇨🇭
